Honky Tonk

Dale Watson has been making country music for over 25 years. And when I say country music, I'm referring to ole fashioned country music such as Buck Owens, Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash. Not exactly what they call country today. Now I don't consider myself a country girl. But I definitly married a country man with a bit of an urban twist. Off he wisked me to Bakersfield this last weekend to fall in love with another man....Dale Watson is his name. It's okay because I believe my husband is in love with him as well. In all seriousness, Dale made me appreciate country music for what it is....for the honky tonk. He sang for four straight hours as my husband and I danced and dined and kicked back to good tunes. What a weekend. Much better than going to a concert in the city as you stand pretentiously and nod your head to scared to embrace the music. The venue was a small bar with pretty amazing murals on the wall that made you appreciate the spirit in musicans such as the Blues Brothers and Ray. What an amazing weekend escape. Oh and did I mention that Dale kissed me on the check? Such a gentleman.

Read my husband's blog on Nodepression.com for his take.

I have to take a quick moment to support a new Etsy artist and my best friends sister. I have never known such a creative family. Check out this new Etsy shop. Jens work is romantic and takes you back to your childhood and early romances. When worries of day to day life did not exist. Nothing but beaches and sunlight and children indulging in the moment. She makes beautiful shadowboxes featuring original vintage photos and rustic antique elements as part of a hand-painted box.
